Book & Borders Cafe

If you equally love books and coffee, this new place along Tomas Morato Avenue is surely something to rejoice about! I guess it’s also about time that cafes promote enjoying a cup of jo while reading a good book or two, as opposed to the apparent marriage of gadgets and coffee that we see nowadays. I know that your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds are bottomless pits of source of entertainment, but sometimes nothing beats the real thing. I’m not really much into coffee but I sure wouldn’t mind dropping by a place that has a great selection of books!

About 2 weeks ago, an invite came for the grand opening of Book & Borders Cafe, which you can make your new metro hangout to read, sip, and dine.

You will certainly be smitten with this place! Unlike most coffee shops right now that are populated by people to engage in chit chat or picked that as a meeting place, Book & Borders has an charming and relaxed ambiance that encourages you to pick a title and quietly enjoy it in your corner while enjoying their appetizing light fares and refreshing drinks. I really liked the pop of color brought by the chairs; they’re super comfortable too!

I am head over heels with their desserts! Each one of these I’ve tried are just soooo good! I swear by it! Aside from delicious muffins, breads, cupcakes, pies, tarts, squares, doughnuts, and cakes (salted caramel chocolate cake), Book and Borders also serves more filling menu options like pasta (truffle mushroom pasta, tuyo pasta), sandwiches (beef pastrami panini), even salad and breakfast options. For drinks, there’s coffee of course, in a variety of options, as well as refreshing smoothies for hot days.

You must not forget to try their Iced Mocha which was served with frozen milk balls. So instead of the coffee getting diluted as the ice melts, it actually gets more flavorful and creamy!

The cafe’s brand ambassadors, Karylle Tatlonghari-Yuzon and Benjamin Alves are both book lovers, and represents what the café wants to promote very well; which is to encourage the habit of reading as well as indulging in one’s love for coffee. The two self-confessed book lovers were present at the cafe’s grand opening last July 28, wherein guests were treated to the cafe’s bestsellers and were given the chance to enjoy the selection of books that are available.

Books that can be found here are from a wide selection of authors: from John Grisham, Anne Rice, Haruki Murakami, Paulo Coelho, Stephen King to John Green, Robyn Schneider, Rainbow Rowell plus so much more. They carry books from the categories of fantasy, romance, health, fashion, lifestyle, non-fiction — pretty much everything you can immediately think of. They even have this Bookmark Box where you can leave a book you haven’t finished reading and just pick up where you’ve left off on your next visit. Nice, right? So be sure to drop by and explore their shelves!

B&B’s opening was also graced by the presence of beauty queens Venus Raj, Ariella Arida and Wynwyn Marquez. They treated the audience with a sample reading of their favorite books!
Carrying the tagline, Read. Sip. Dine., Book & Borders is definitely a must-try not just for book lovers and coffee lovers but anyone who is looking for a nice place to hang out in the busy metro. Do pay them a visit one of these days to enjoy a book, to get your daily caffeine fix or just to spend time with your friends or family. 🙂
