Barbie Challenges the Limit of Young Girls’ Imagination

Last May 29, I attended the “Barbie You Can Be Anything Day” together with my daughter Chloee. This campaign is a celebration of the potential and challenges on the limits of the imagination of young girls. It is a movement to empower little ladies to pursue and live out their dreams, whatever they may be, and for the adults to encourage them on their journey. The event was held at the Atrium of SM Mall of Asia.

There were different stations where kids can join fun activities. There’s the Pink Salon where kids were given a “Barbie Look” hair and make up. There’s also the Pinktastic Fashion Clothes station where kids can wear the Barbie costume of their choice.

My daughter Chloee chose to be a Barbie Doctor and a B-TV reporter. She was asked to deliver a report and was given a copy of her news spiel as a remembrance. There are also booths for face painting and cupcake decorating. Certainly, the kids enjoyed the different booths, games and prizes they received.

There was also a short program and an interactive fashion show with Andi Eigenmann and daughter Ellie strutting the catwalk. Some kids who were in Barbie costumes were also given the chance to walk the ramp and pose like Barbie dolls.

“We’re looking at this event as a jump-off point to young Filipina girls,” explains Ms. Liza Yao, Managing Director of Richprime Global, Inc. “We want to inspire, and have them see that they can be anything they set their mind to and further beyond that, just like Barbie.”

It was a free dream day at the “Barbie You can be Anything” event. Kids can be anything they like that day. They can be a chef, a rockstar, a doctor, a princess, anything.

In reality, you can be anything you want to be, too. You can dream anything you want to become. You can do whatever you want to do. There’s no limit to dream and it’s free.

Some say the poorest people are the people who don’t have their dreams. That is why it is important to teach our kids to become a dreamer. All you have to do is give you best to reach your dreams.  To all young kids out there, start dreaming now!
